Summer Skincare: Lather Up Lovelies!

The sun can be a real treat to your skin considering all of the vitamin D you’ll absorb. Although, we all know exposure to the sun for too long isn’t very lovely without the proper prep.

When in the summer heat, you need to moisturize. I cannot stress this enough! Moisture is what keeps your skin looking young. Without having routine moisture, your skin will dry out causing premature wrinkles and sun spots, both of which aren’t very pretty but can easily be prevented. We prefer finding a moisturizer or body lotion that is natural so you won’t be absorbing any kind of harmful chemicals that could further damage your skin.

Sun On Beach

Keeping your skin hydrated is partly by how much water you consume. The more water that is circulating through your body, the more moisture your skin will have naturally. But a little extra help from shelf products never hurt!

Coconut oil might just be what you are looking for if you’re on a budget and trying to find a natural moisturizer. Now just because it’s an oil does NOT mean it’s slimy and greasy. Coconut oil is more of a dry oil, so you just rub it in until it is fully absorbed into your skin. Also, it has an SPF of 6; not much but every bit of protection helps! Coconut oil can also help clear up common skin irritations like razor burn, KP’s, and eczema. Who knew, right?

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil can be found in any grocery where all of the other oils and non-stick sprays are located.

Another part of keeping your summer skin beautiful is by exfoliating. Exfoliation helps scrub away the dead skin, dirt, sweat, and pollutants that like hang out in your pores. And remember, after you exfoliate MOISTURIZE. You especially want to exfoliate right before you tan so you’ll have an even, sun-kissed glow rather than a splotchy mess!
